You don't know what you don't know

It's easy to get wrapped up in a mindset of "I have to do it all." It's easy to think that you have to wear every hat in your business to ensure that every T is crossed and every I is dotted.

But, do you? Really... Do you? No. You do not. One of the biggest lessons that a business owner can learn is knowing when there are things that will surface or already lurking in the background that they just don't know.

Why don't they know it? Because it isn't their craft. It isn't in their wheelhouse. It isn't something where you may be able to just google a few words and get the answer you desire.

You're not alone. I had to learn this also. Although I've obtained multiple academic degrees, I still do not know every single thing there is to know about business. Why? Because some issues, whether legal or not, may be something that I'm not particularly trained in or have experience with. You may be wondering? How in the world do you run a business and represent clients? The answer is simple. I operate within my own lane. The lane that I know and where I can help my clients create a Team to fill in the gaps for issues that they need additional support in.

The Team:

Every business needs a team. It's does not have to be the traditional "work-in-the-office" team, but a team of combined professionals to help guide you on different aspects of your business.

Who should make up the team?

I recommend that you have an Attorney, Accountant, CPA, Financial Adviser, and Therapist. These different professionals help you to strengthen and protect your business.

Your Attorney: Will help guide you in forming your business, creating agreements, mapping your financials to create business plan, trademarking, copyrighting, triage legal issues and advise, advise on employment matters, contract issues, and the list goes on.

Your Account: Will help you organize your finances and stay abreast of your budget to avoid overspending and identify additional funds that may be used for reasonable investment into your business.

Your CPA: Will assist you in understanding and filing your taxes, and finding the proper deductions to take full advantage of.

Your Financial Adviser: Will guide you on how to keep your personal and retirement income for yourself, and find ways to increase business revenue that you can live off.

Your Therapist: Will help you to attack the personal issues that may be impacting your business.

Stop juggling. Stop wearing all those hats. You're driving yourself crazy and it's impossible to keep watch over everything in your business especially when there are things that you just do not know.

Let's get you on the right track for 2020 and create the team you need to be successful. When you become a client of SLD, we provide you with a network of professionals to give you the right guidance, support and protection that you need.
